A border collie named Johnny Cash is bringing the laughs with his hilarious antics after he snuck off with his canine friend to a Dollar General to play with a toy.

The viral TikTok revealing the situation, captioned, "I literally can't make this shh up #johnny #dogsofttiktok #wtf #funny #runaway #viral #fyp #foryou #unsupervised #badboy," has been viewed 1.2 million times and liked 168,300 times since it was posted on April 8.

According to the American Kennel Club (AKC), the border collie is well-known for being "extremely smart," and was bred in Scotland for herding sheep. Queen Victoria really liked the breed in particular as well.

Statista reports that the Border collie is the second most popular pastoral dog in the United Kingdom as of 2020 based on the number of registrations, falling only to the German shepherd. The border collie also ranks in the top third for most popular dog breeds in the United States, according to the AKC.

TikToker @gabriela.o.k shared the one-minute and 36-second clip, which began with her filming as she was driven to Dollar General by a good Samaritan.

"Johnny sneaks out to Dollar General with his friend," the screen read and was said out loud. "Wait till you see what they were doing."

Apparently, the TikToker had put the canines outside so they could eat, and 10 minutes later she was outside "yelling" for them. That's when a woman pulled up and asked if she had two missing dogs.

It turns out Johnny and his canine companion were seen in the dog aisle of a local Dollar General.

"In the dog aisle, getting toys?" the woman questioned.

She then thanked the driver for taking her, and they arrived at the Dollar General and walked inside.

"I found your mom," the driver said as she beckoned to the dog.

"Johnny," the TikToker called out for the pooch.

Suddenly, Johnny and his golden retriever friend could be seen playing with a green toy in the aisle as they came into view.

"Are you serious?" the TikToker asked. "You guys. Oh my God."

The dogs stopped playing, and Johnny looked at his owner. A Dollar General worker revealed the dogs had even brought the toy up to a customer at one point as well.

TikToker @gabriela.o.k proceeded to usher the dogs out of the store with a small child.

"Oh my God," the woman said again as the dogs walked off together and were at one point side by side as they exited the store. The golden retriever got into the car before the clip cut off, with Johnny presumably following suit.

Over 3,300 comments have come in over the viral clip of Johnny and his companion running off to Dollar General a mile away, and people really appreciated the content.

A lot of people thought the TikToker was looking for their child at first glance. "I thought you were looking for kids," a viewer wrote.

One TikToker admitted they "love this so much," adding, "That's what Dollar General gets for putting stores in the middle of nowhere."

Some people had theories about what the dogs were really up to with the toy. "They were bringing it to people in hopes they would buy it and they could make it back without being caught," a viewer suggested.

Other people recounted their own experiences with dog mishaps. "Mine took off with a neighbor's dog, went swimming, then to the grocery store, and a free ride in a police car," a viewer revealed.

While another TikToker had a question after watching the video. "Did they at least get to keep what they picked out?" they asked. "I mean they already had their mouths on it, so technically it's theirs!"

Comments of approval included things like, "I'm dying, thought it was a kid," and "If I worked there, it would've been the best day of my life."

Many found humor in the situation involving Johnny. "This is so funny," a TikToker said. "They looked so pleased with themselves too, Lmao."

And since dogs are common pets, there's no shortage of dog stories that have garnered attention worldwide.

A Shiba Inu went viral after he wouldn't give back a girls' homework as he was chased around the house. A labrador retriever named Ace turned heads with his reaction to hearing the word "Cows." And a mother dog wouldn't eat until she brought a volunteer to her puppies, all of whom had been living in the woods.
