A stuffed animal store in the southeastern Brazilian state of São Paulo is raising its security threat level after a stray dog was captured on camera attempting to steal two plush animals, including a teddy bear.

The hilarious, brazen attempt was captured on camera when the four-legged animal waltzed into a shop in the city Tabatinga on Monday.

The surveillance video shows the dog, known by neighborhood residents as Pacato, trotting into the store and dragging a plush toy that resembled a dog towards the exit when the toy hit the corner of the exit.

Instead of reaching back for it, the Pacato left the store only to return moments later with another stray pooch as a backup.

Pacato attempted to pull a teddy bear out of the store, but gave up and fled before he could be caught.

Store owner Marcos Soler told Brazilian news outlet G1 he was tipped off about the robbery attempt by a customer who had entered the store.

He didn't know what to believe until he and his staff reviewed the security camera and 'were very surprised' that Pacato tried to rob his business.

According to Soler, it was not the first time that a neighborhood stray dog struck the store.

The only difference was that the other dog 'caught an even smaller pet (toy) and ended up taking it away.'

Soler made light of the incident by creating a wanted poster with Pacato on it.

'Our store has its doors open, and we even think it's cute for the dog to take the pet,' Soler said. 'Too bad he couldn't find a companion to sleep on the cold night. Let's wait for new episodes.'

The botched robbery is reminiscent of another incident involving a stray dog who was caught on camera stealing a delivery man's lunch bag.

The dog in question walked past Roseilson Melo who was dropping off an order at a home in the Brazilian northern city of Mocajuba on September 11.

The surveillance video showed Melo placing his food delivery backpack on top of his motorcycle's rear seat and leaving it open as he waited for the customer to come to the door.

Melo was chatting with the customer when the backpack tipped to the side, causing a plastic bag to fall out before the dog spotted it on the ground and disappeared with it.
