When it comes to Santa Claus, Illinois parents need to stop doing it

After becoming a parent, I quickly learned that other families have very different traditions regarding Santa Claus. As my daughter grows up, it becomes more difficult to solve the problems caused by these different traditions.

In my house, Santa Claus will fill the stockings with candies and bring each of my daughters a most wanted gift. He opened it and placed it under the tree, so this was the first thing they saw when they woke up on Christmas morning. The other wrapped gifts they saw under the tree were from mom and dad.

We know other families. Every gift their children open on Christmas morning comes from Santa Claus. When my daughters asked why they got 5 gifts from Santa Claus and they only got one, I still don’t know how. Answer effectively.

I'm not here to tell you that your family's way of being Santa Claus is wrong. It needs to be changed. I just want all of us to consider one thing, one thing that children's social workers emphasize during the holidays...

So far, my daughters have not asked Santa Claus for an expensive gift, such as an iPad, a computer or a game system, but I believe that this day is coming, although I think we have taught them that it is impossible. I know I said before that Santa Claus always brings my girls what they want most, but expensive electronic products are where I draw the line. Yes, I would be embarrassed because my children boasted about the big gifts to children at school, but more importantly, if we were to shell out the money, my husband and I would like the credit! Do Santa's elves even know how to make an iPad? I thought it was Santa’s workshop...not Santa’s electronic laboratory. Just some food for thought.
