The dog stolen in the Cheyenne car theft found safety and reunited with the owner

On Tuesday night, a stolen dog was taken home during a car theft outside a grocery store in Xia'an.

The Animal Control Center said it learned of the theft on Wednesday morning, and shortly thereafter, it received a call from a concerned citizen asking them to check a dog in a car that was overnight near them.

Public Information Officer Michael Skinner said in a press release: "When the police arrived at the scene, the dog and car matched the description of the incident."

"The Animal Control Center contacted Travis Bogard, the owner of the dog, and Cheyenne Police Department," Skinner added. "Travis' dog, Haplo, was not injured and was ecstatic to see him."

With the help of Xia'an police, the two stolen puppies were reunited with their owners on the weekend.

Public Information Officer Alex Farkas said that at about 2 pm on Saturday, the police were notified that the Australian Pyrenees had been stolen from a resident of Weld County, Colorado​​ German Shepherd mix dogs are on sale in the Menards parking lot.

Farkas stated that when the responders arrived, the suspicious vehicle had left Menards, but another person in the area was able to find and park it.

Fakas said: "During the parking, the police officer noticed two puppies at the back of the vehicle, which matches the description of the person who reported the theft."

She added: “The officials took over the puppies and returned them safely to their owners.”

Farkas said an investigation into the theft is ongoing.
