Long Beach, Mississippi Gulf Coast (Associated Press)-An animal rescue organization says a person abandoned 41 cats after moving out of their home on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.

WLOX-TV reported that the organization moved the cat from its home in Moss Point to a safe space in Long Beach for the sake of pets. The people living in this house have moved to North Carolina.

Vanessa Cruz is in the rescue team. She said that for the sake of pets, other cats have gotten rid of hoarding behavior this year.

Now, the organization is asking for donations of cat food, flea treatments, towels, cat beds and cat toys. Some companies in Long Beach are accepting goods, and some Boy Scouts are collecting donations.

"The dream is to be able to help as many cats as possible along the Gulf of Mexico," Cruz said. "We really don't have the space or capacity, but we are working hard. And, because our community and Scouts reach out, and we work with everyone, we are able to get the job done."
