With the holidays right around the corner, finding the perfect gift can be challenging. Whether you’re looking for food, a book or an antique, many Binghamton alumni have started companies that can definitely contribute to your holiday gift shopping. Find a special gift for a loved one or find your new favorite movie this holiday season with a gift guide made entirely by notable Binghamton alumni.

Between handmade toys and ornaments, woven scarves and beautiful jewelry, “Uncommon Goods,” a unique online retailer founded by David Bolotsky ‘85, has the perfect gift for everyone. You can even find the cutest sweater for your dog! Be sure to add this site to your list when gift shopping.

Who isn’t craving Belgium waffles during the holiday season? Binghamton alumni Ilene Friedman and Keegan Bailey ‘06 have made their career entirely out of making homemade waffles. With more than half of their ingredients being local to the Albany, N.Y. area, Send Me Waffles taste much fresher than your average Eggo. Your friends will love you a "waffle" lot if you get this for them for the holidays.

Is eating less meat one of your new year's resolutions? With Sara Liu ‘06 and Lei Liu ‘04 and their vegan restaurant, Parlor City Vegan, based right here in Binghamton, you can make that a reality. Whether you’re craving a soup and salad or burgers and a milkshake, this restaurant has it all locally sourced and plant-based! If you have a vegan friend, taking them out for a meal can be the perfect holiday gift.

Looking for the perfect beauty product? Binghamton alumna Maureen Kelly ‘96 has an entire cruelty-free cosmetics line for you to choose from. With a bestselling vegan shape tape concealer and various vegan skincare products, Tarte Cosmetics has the perfect product for everyone. If you are shopping for a makeup guru this holiday season, definitely be sure to check out this line of cosmetics.

Don’t you miss the soap carving internet fad? Tammy Burger of Decker College made it into a career. She learned her craft off YouTube, and now has a signature line of soap bars, including special scents for the holiday season. To top it all off, Burger's line is entirely environmentally friendly; the soap, shampoo and conditioner of Simplify are wrapped in biodegradable film.

Are you or a loved one looking for a way to get more active in the new year? Soul Cycle, co-founded by Julie Rice ‘92, is the perfect way to exercise while having fun. Instead of starting the new year with a gym membership that you’ll never use, Soul Cycle provides the perfect alternative workout you can either do at home with a bike, or in a studio. This is the perfect way to support your significant other in their fitness resolution.

If you’re looking for presents for a bookworm, Binghamton alumni are the perfect place to turn, with hundreds of published authors in all kinds of genres. Peter Guttman ‘76 has written several books about his traveling experiences, including the bestselling By the Sea: A Photographic Voyage Around the Blue Planet. Anita Diamant ‘75 has an impressive non-fiction collection of Jewish literature, as well as best-selling fiction novels such as The Red Tent, a story on Dinah, a minor character in the book of Genesis. Binghamton alumni are also fond of science fiction, from Eugene Bryan ‘11 and Joseph D’Urso’s ‘11 novel The Aetherverse, which they started at Binghamton University, to Adrianne Finlay’s, MA ‘99. PhD ‘05 Your One & Only, a thriller where humans are replaced by clones. The options are endless! Check out the full list of Binghamton alumni authors and their publications.

Whether you’re looking for a gift for a loved one or just need a way to pass the time, Binghamton Alumni are the perfect place to find ideas for this holiday season.
